Individual Entry Qualifications
The Section 3 Individual Shootout is an “invitation only” event and is not an open tournament. Individuals must earn an invitation to this event by meeting the following criteria:
- must have competed in at least 2/3 of his/her team games as scheduled by the schools athletic department,
- individual average must meet or exceed the league qualification standard (see below)
- must not be the high average bowler in the league
- must not be a member of a team that qualified for the State Championships by winning either Division 1 or Division 2 at sectionals
- must be are otherwise eligible to participate as deemed by their school district.
Format
The tournament will consist of six games. Standings are determined by total overall pinfall for the six games.
Determining the League Qualification Standard:
Each league will calculate its qualification standard the same manner. Each league consisting of six (6) regular full time competing member teams (or more), shall be entitled to invite a number of players that is equal to the number of teams competing in the league. The league shall invite the top average bowlers from the league from regular season league play, minimum 2/3 league games excluding post season, and up to any prescribed cutoff date approved by Section 3.
Example:
Number of teams in the league: 9
Number of bowlers the league is entitled to send to the shootout: 9
Only bowlers who have competed in 2/3 of their games (or more) may be considered, The league shall rank the individual bowers averages and will extend an invitation to nine (9) players, starting with the bowler who achieved the 2nd highest average in the league through through 10th highest average. If any of these bowlers (2-10) are on a team who qualified for the State Championships by winning their respective division at the Team Championships, then they do not qualify for the composite division, and should be removed from consideration.
Declining an Invitation
Should an individual bowler decline the invitation to participate, the league may extend an invitation to the next highet average bowler.
Fees
There is no registration for this event. Coaches of potential qualifying bowlers are responsible to monitor the average list from the league. Coaches unsure of the process or if their athlete qualified, must ask their league rep or record keeper for clarification.
