About the Section 3 Individual Shootout
The Section III Individual Shootout is the invitation‑only event that decides which bowlers represent Section III at the NYSPHSAA Individual Championships. It is not an open tournament. Bowlers earn an invitation through regular‑season performance: each league sends its top varsity averages, and any bowler who finishes the season with a varsity average of at least 200 (boys) or 180 (girls) and meets the participation requirement is invited as well. Invitations and advancement are determined separately for boys and girls and for Division 1 and Division 2 schools. There is no entry fee; league statisticians submit their qualifiers by the published deadline.
The Shootout is bowled over two days, twelve games in all. Day 1 is a six‑game qualifier, Day 2 is the finals. Top finishers in Division 1 Boys, Division 1 Girls, Division 2 Boys, and Division 2 Girls advance to the NYSPHSAA Individual Championships. Spectator Fees
